Dr. Lieping Chen is the world's leading investigator in the characterization of cell surface co-stimulatory molecules that modulate immune responses. He is also the first scientist to apply co-stimulation as a mean for cancer therapy.

His laboratory at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is actively engaged in the study of biochemical, structural and functional aspects of co-stimulatory molecules as well as development of new strategies using engineered proteins, monoclonal antibodies and gene transfer to manipulate co-stimulation against cancers.
